Morgan Dennis: (1892 - 1960) Studied at American School of Design, Boston, and with William H.W Bicknell, Stanhope and Forbes. Member of Author's Log. Exhibits include Ft. .Meyers, Fl., Key West, Clarke Univ., Worcester, Long Island, Macbeth Gallery, NYC. The bar and lounge at the Sheraton Russell Hotel in New York City is named for his mural featured there, The Dog House. He is best known for his dog subjects, particularly Scotties. Author/Illustrator of numerous puiblications, including Pup Himself (1943), Burlap (1945), Morgan Dennis Dog Book, Skit and Skat, Pure Breds, The Sea Dog, and others. Sketched FDR's dog Fala, created the Black & White Scotch label. Extremely well listed artist whose works grace countless museums, the White House and collections around the world.He was born in Boston and lived on Long Island, New York, and in Key West, Florida, where he lived on a houseboat. He lectured on the art of etching. His name also appears as Burt Morgan Dennis. Since he usually did sketches and etchings, this watercolor is unusual.
